The Proper Name of the CREATOR

                                            Part 4: Gospel Quotations from, or Allusions to, Old Testament Verses Containing “Yahweh”

The purpose of this series of articles titled "The Proper Name of the CREATOR" is to provide background information relating to what is, strictly speaking, the only proper name of the CREATOR of the heavens and the earth; i.e., "Yahweh." This fourth article presents verses in the Gospels which quote or allude to verses in the Old Testament which contain the word YHWH--Strong's number 3068 or Strong's #3069, "Yahweh"--in the Hebrew text underlying the King James Version of the Bible.

Matt: 3:3:
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Isa. 40:3:
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD [YHWH, Yahweh], make straight in the desert a highway for our God [elohim].

Matt. 4:4:
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Deut. 8:3:
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD [YHWH, Yahweh] doth man live.

Matt. 4:7:
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Deut. 6:16:
Ye shall not tempt the LORD [YHWH, Yahweh] your God [elohim], as ye tempted him in Massah.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Deut. 6:13:
Thou shalt fear the LORD [YHWH, Yahweh] thy God [elohim], and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Ps. 118:22, 23:
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
This is the LORD'S [YHWH, Yahweh’s] doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD [YHWH, Yahweh], and the day of vengeance of our God [elohim]; to comfort all that mourn;

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD [YHWH, Yahweh] revealed?

(And note that the first word in Isa 53:1 in the Septuagint--a Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament--is kurios, “Lord.”)
